I have been reading some of the post on taking a wire tie and using it the blade hole on some Spyderco's and it works like the wave.

Well, I just found out that on a CRKT Ryan model 7 you can unscrew the rather larger thumb stud and just use the hole that is left over as the opening method. I quickly did this (two pliers and 30 seconds of time) to my Model 7 and it works great. I wasn't a real big fan of the real big thumb stud.

So what other tips and tricks are there that people are not sharing?

Oh and the wire tie trick won't work on the tip down carry of the CRKT Ryan model 7.

On all my Kershaw speed-safe knives I either smoothed the knurling of the thumb stud or ground it down so my thumb would slide smoothly and easily under it.

For the Whirlwind model you can open the blade in a controlled fashion by using your left thumb in the large hole in the blade (for those sheeple openings);)

Those are my tips of the day :p

My tip for the CRKT M16 is actually take the thumbstud to a coarse stone and smooth out the checkering a bit. It's really rough and destroy pants very easily.
