tips for a mild steel stock removal hawk

Hey guys, I recently got fed up looking for some carbon steel, so i got someone to cut me out a few designs from some 1/2 inch flat stock mild steel.
they turned out pretty good, but what do you recommend for the cutting edge?
Should I grind a groove into the edge and weld a small file or something in there somehow?
Or do you think it will hold an edge well enough for throwing?

Hhmmm...yes, you could weld some tool steel or a file onto the cutting edge to make it a "better" tool, but what is it designed for? What are the dimensions? If you are just going to be throwing it in your backyard the mild steel will be ok, most likely. What kind of tools do you have available to make the hawk?
