Hello , fellow new sebenza owners
After owning my sebenza 21 , for a week now . And reading around the forums. I have noticed that there's a lot of posts about people being underwhelmed or having difficulty with their knife . For most this is their first high end production knife , as it was for me . I also experienced a lot of the similar difficulties at first . But I loved this knife and was damned and determined to figure it out . And I have and here's my theory of where mine and probably a lot of others problems start . And a few tips on how I overcame them . I think news owners troubles start not so much with to high expectations. As they come to the sebenza with preset ideas of what it is and how it should function . They come at it as I did . My only other experience with thumb studs is a benchmade 943 . So I went at the sebenza as if it were a 943 . And ran into problems , this knife is a different animal . So my first piece of advise to new owners is.approach this knife as the unique piece of cutlery that it is . Get to know it , learn it's ways . Don't expect it to be like your paramilitary 2. At first that pointy thumb stud tore my thumb up . Because I was trying to actuate it like I did my benchmade. Here's what I came up with . As with the benchmade, don't use the flesh just below your nail . Come at it with your thumb at 90°angle rest your nail on the stud push up and out at a 45°angle ... very simple with a little practice .. what really tore up my thumb was disengaging the lock bar . What I was doing was pushing straight across at a 90° angle . My thumb was raw . Here's how I figured out how to do it , smooth and easy no pain . Rest your thumb flat on the lick bar . Where it sits in the middle of your thumb . And push at a 45°angle walla smooth, easy and painless. If you're have that problem grab your knife right now and try it . You can thank me later lol. I have gotten pretty good at it now . I can flick it open now it doesn't open with the snap of my paramilitary or 943 . It just sweetly glides open and locks into place . I heard this voids your warranty . I think that's BS if it can't handle that , it doesn't deserve it's reputation as a rock solid worker . That be like buying a Lamborghini and being told that if you drive over 60mph it voids your warranty . I call bullshit . Anywho , I hope I have helped some people to not give up on their knife . Happy cutting y'all .
