Hello -- I need to get a new tire gauge for my car. Are all tire gauges created equal? (Equally accurate/ inaccurate, etc.) Digital vs. pen style? Is there a Sebenza or Busse of tire gauges? Show me the light! :D
Thanks, Glen

moroso and some other folks make both analog and digital tire gauges for race cars which are supposedly VERY accurate, i dont think they are more than ~ $50 IIRC.

At my job as a professional mechanic...gee, sounds like an infomercial intro.... I have been using a digital gage I got at Radio Shack for $12. It has been very durable and works in most all situations. I have seen this module on other gages atvarious stores.
Just noticed they even have a bilingual tire gage.

You don't need to spend a lot of money. Motorcycle Consumer News just rated gauges (pencil, digital, etc) and as I recall some pretty inexpensive items from AutoZone were very accurate and fairly robust.

I've been using a highly accurate pencil gauge from "Syracuse" very satisfactorily for several years now.

Thanks for the replies... bilingual tire gauge?!? It provides something more than just a numerical read!?!

a std milton brand for ~$8 at autozone is hard to beat unless ya want something fancy.

For on the road I use a ten dollar Campbell Hausfeld that I picked up at Walmart. At my fathers shop, he has a 60 dollar tire pressure tester, I forget what brand, but it is extremely accurate. The guy that owns the shop next to him has a one hundred sixty dollar tire pressure gauge that is exactly accurate. The difference between my fathers and his buddys? I have no idea.

A couple of years ago I went to the napa store and bought a "truckers" tire guage, at least that's what they called it. I think it was around $45 or so.

Anyway, it has a valve connector that rotates, a longer hose so you can get the guage closer to you, a larger diameter guage and a bleeder button. Totally worth it as it seems evertime the tires need air it 7 degress F out with a windchill of -5, at night and it's pretty much impossible to use/read the cheapies.

yes there is... Drager is the sebbie of tire guages. Snap-on is a distant second.

I use Drager guage to calibrate my other gauges.

here's a pic of my 15+yr old German Drager (lost name tag) and Snap-on
