According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, males drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid December. Female reindeer retain their antlers until after they give birth in the spring. Therefore, according to every historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, every single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a female. We should have known. Only women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost!!:D  ;)

Hehehehe. Dang mythology comes back to haunt us. LOL.

Makes sense; I always thought Santa's reindeer were a bit light in their loafers. :D

Hi, Gin :D

If the reindeer are female, then maybe Santa's call is actually, "Hoe, hoe, hoe!"

[dodges a thrown khukuri]

The view's always the same. Nose to tail with a group that eats twenty pounds of alfalfa each would have me looking for another line of work if I was a reindeer.

What next? I suppose you expect us to believe that Lassie and Spuds McKenzie were girls too!

IIRC, some of the dogs used for "Lassie" TV program were females.

How about coming up with female names for the deer. I've thought about it but names don't want to fit properly.

in the popular holiday [american] stories, there are female deer already, girl friends of the boys that pull - who all look like standard whitetail deer - not reindeer :>

so, if we're making the pullers ALSO girls, that means they'd have to be lesbians? mmmm. i think i like cross-dressers more ;)

Well, when you think about it they are mostly girl names anyway.

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet (how about Comma......she's a blond that has to think about everything), Cupid, Donner (which was really Dunder when the poem was first written. It's a Dutch word for Thunder, so maybe we should call her Donna), and Blitzen (which was really Blixem which means Lightning, so how about we call her Ditzo)

And then there's always Rudolf...........the lucky duck that got all the girls just because he was into the fermented apples.......causing the red nose:rolleyes: It's not really a rack of antlers on his head it's a tree branch that he fell into:rolleyes: :D
