I just received this Mike Tison saddlehorn today. 3 3/4 inches closed, ATS-34, stainless liners and bolsters. Very clean and crisp work by Mike. What caught my eye was the carbon fiber scales. My memory may be faulty (probably is:D) but I just don't recall seeing any carbon fiber on a traditional pattern. I know William Henry had a few model with CF and of course you see it on fixed blades. It works well with traditionals I think. I would not mind at all seeing more of it. Well done, Mr. Tison.

Surprisingly, this looks very good! Doesn't sound too promising, but it works well. Traditionals' ride has been pimped.....

I saw that posted the other day and I have to say it's interesting at the very least. I actually had thought about having Ray Cover put some CF on a slipjoint before...not sure I will, but I thought about it:D

Thomason,

Very nice, I saw this on the Makers for sale and emailed Mike since I have a trapper on order and asked if we could go with CF, he thought it would look great, me too.

That knife rocks. Get it?...knife?...rocks?:thumbup::cool:

As said in the original purchase thread, I think CF has a special place for traditional-style folders.

CF is not only light and strong,but it's super scratch resistant.I've talked with Jerry Halfrich about it on a shadow pattern,I'm still tossing it around though.
Rob,congrat's on your new Tison,it looks perfect.I like his nail nicks,very nice.

I've thought about CF on a knife as well. I don't know anything about Tison but I like the looks of this one. Way to go, Rob.

Nice! The CF looks much better than I would have thought it would have.

Cool knife, Rob. Looks like it'll get 'er done!

Mike T...out of FL.Nice guy & great maker.I got to know him at the Gator Knife Show,bought a Trapper from him....placed 2ND for best folder.Beat out by Jack Davenport..with a knife that was super expensive.Jack had helped Mike in the past...

I picked up a small Tison Trapper in black micarta recently. Mike makes an extremely nice knife IMHO. I am looking forward to getting a twin from Mike with a warnie blade.
Terrific fit and finish and a blade with a great edge.
The CF Saddlehorn is a real looker.

You beat me to it. I was going to get it, but got distracted.:grumpy:
Next time, I get to be first. At least I have his sowbelly that made Oct KnifeWorld and Dec Knives Illustrated.:D:D

Not sure I've seen a slipjoint in carbon fiber. One of the nice things about CF is that its rigid enough so a knife can be made without metal liners... just the cf handles. I have a few lockbacks by Tom Overeynder like that. Halfrich also makes a linerless CF lockback. Tony Bose used to make a micarta slipjoint with no metal liners, but he hasn't done that in many years. IIRC, someone, maybe Devin Thomas or Paul Bos carried one like that. I've inquired about Tony making some more, but all I got was a history lesson.
