Titan Worker vs Titan Defender Lightweight

I still like the Titan Worker - except for the blade material - 440C just seems pedestrian compared to the Bohler steels. I like the heavy Ti liner-lock - it does seem secure. The Micarta scales seem to offer a good grip, too. I have had the good fortune of fondling one in the store several times - to the point of nearly spending some serious cash there for it. Then I found it available from an evil-bay store with whom I have done some business... and found the similar Titan Defender Lightweight there as well - for less.

Are the two Titanium liner's the same thickness? Are the blades the same thickness? There is a slight difference in the handle shape - and a listed 1/16" difference in the blade length, the Worker being longer. If the liners and blades are the same thickness, my attention is on the Lightweight, due to it's N690BO steel and lower price. I am more partial to the green Micarta, too, rather than the brown, but that is minor. Any comparative info or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure on the Worker, but the Lightweight Titan Defender has ti liners that are .100" thick and the blade is from .140" steel. Though there is nearly a 2 ounce, 3.5 to 5.3, difference between the two, with the Defender being the heavier of the two. In such a small knife that little extra weight sure makes it feel solid...very solid!:)

I was hoping I'd get some info from a Boker rep on this, but I didn't address TJT, etc. Still, it's confusing - the Worker being lighter than the Defender Lightweight. The blade thickness for the D.L. is listed as 4 mm on pg 20 of the Spring/Summer 2010 catalog - but yours was .140" - 3.5 mm - confusing. I found it in stock at a place, but it's an evil-bay dealer with no returns accepted - I have to 'like' it.

The blade measurements were off, for sure. But the titanium liners measurement was also wrong. It is listed at 2mm, which is .080", but it is in fact thicker at .100"! Although the blade at .140" is really thick enough as is due to the shorter length of the blade. The Lightweight Defender has the exact measurements.

Why the over 2 ounces difference in weight between the Defender and the Worker? I can't figure that one out.

I do know that I like the Titan Defender so much that I am going to replace it since my was stolen this summer! It is a great piece!:)
