is this a recommended idea for a slippie to have the spring out of titanium? it works well for folding knife lockbars. what do you guys think?

Titanium does not make a good bearing surface. If the blade is going to be rubbing over a section of the titanium under tension it will gaul.

Also, a titanium spring will need to feature more cross section since it won't generate as much tension as a steel spring of similar cross section.

well what if i polish the contacting surfaces to a mirror finish. it should prevent gauling. and i can leave the spring pretty thick as i make pretty beefy slipjoints.
