Titanium blade?

Tried to use search option but it didn't work for me right now.What would the edge holding characteristics of titanium compare to? I know it isn't very hard, but how is it compared to ats-34, bg-42, etc. thanks for any replies
 
The regular titanium alloys that anyone can get will get razor sharp but will not hold an edge as long as a good steel knife.

Even Missions Beta-Ti, which is the hardest currently used to make knives does have the edge retention capabilities of ATS-34 class steels. They also don't responds well to coarse edges so need serration patterns to enable them to slice well.

Titanium only stands out in extreme corrosion enviroments or where heavy toughness and ductility are needed. A Ti blade will say in one piece *long* after ATS-34 class steel blades have been since shattered.

did you mean to say that even Missions Beta-Ti doesnt have the edge retention capablities of ATS-34?
 
Yes, Missions Ti is about the hardest currently and it only pushes 45+ HRC, this is about as hard as AISI-420 stainless.

Sintering is a process. When metals are sintered they are bonded together by heat at less than the melting temperature.

The real questions is, what titanium alloy is being sintered?
 
From the information I have seen on the boker it will be comparable to Talonite , that is a titanium matrix with carbides.
 
I have a Ti diving knife about 5 years old. I doubt it is the "improved" Ti. The tip broke almost immediately in a prying situation, which is what I usually use primary diving knives for. Just an 1/8", so no problem. I can't get it very sharp, though it holds 'not very sharp' for a long time. Even in saltwater it oxidizes very slowly. I doubt Odin could get Ti scary sharp. If I were to lose this one, I'd get another Ti knife for diving, but not for any other purpose.
