I'm trading with this guy who has a titanium scaled benchmade afck. It's a beast knife, it's being sent tommorow. He says he's not sure whether or not it's custom or production. Either way, you see afck markings and bms markings. Is this legit?

Yes they did make some AFCKs that way! Nice knife! Kevin  The titanium is the liners and it will have Black G10 handles. The whole handle it not titanium just the liners.

Does it look anything like this one:

After a little more thru the archives I spotted 8 AFCKs as having been sold, all w/Titanium scales.

TW: This is AG Russell's used knifes sales site.

The ones with the Ti are the 800 and 812, while the G-10 model is the 806. They stopped making the 806 in 2005. The 800 and 812 were pre-2003.

They are all G10 scaled.

The 806 has stainless liners cos it was an axis lock. All prior models have Ti liners cos they were liner locks.

Link above is a pre-owned customized AFCK. Did not come that way from the factory.

I could be mistaken, my BM catalogs only go back to 2003. AG Russell doesn't make any mention of the scales being custom on the 3 800 AFCK and 2 812 AFCK they previously sold, that's why I thought they were factory original. They are usually very good about disclosing stuff like that.

Maybe they were a special run for some reseller?

There was never a factory AFCK with Ti scales, unless there was a special run by a distributor or retailer that very few folks know about. I would think the AFCK nuts over at the BM forum would have sniffed it out by now. I've never seen one. The 800 and 812 had G-10 scales. They were last produced in 2000:

Looks like somebody made at least 5, maybe BM CS could answer the question, if asked.

Thanks for the links to the catalogs, I only have the PDFs back to 2003.

Those have to be aftermarket...... If they were one offs from the factory, I doubt they would sell for $120-$150. I cant tell whether I like the Ti.

I have the 812HS, and I love the perfect texturing of the G10 on it.

i collected AFCK's for a while several yrs ago, i had prototypes, 1st runs, etc, etc and never ever heard of any ti handled ones like in the pic.
