Titanium Color Wear

I have read about the various ways of coloring titanium, heat color and electrical.
My question is, how well do these processes stand up to wear?
Do they wear off like HAII aluminum anodizing?
Or are they more comparable to the HAIII process?

Thanks Leadfoot

They are just a thin layer of oxide coating and will wear off.

They are nowhere near as durable as a hard anodized aluminum coating.

the best way to make color "stick" to Ti is to make sure you have a nice clean matte finish. i like to wire brush an orngpeel like finish on Ti but other bead or glass blast or jsut leace a hand sanded finish inn the 200-300 range

so in truth it does not make the color any thicker or really help it stick but the tops of the Ti have the color ware off first and still leave you with lots of color

a reall nice high gloss finish on Ti makes the colors pop for sure but they jsut ware off too fast on must knives (maybe inside of folder parts would be ok )

I've been carrying a folder I built for a couple years now offshore and the color is completly gone on the outside, but still got color on the inside of the linners.

I look at it as signs of honorable use. Including a few rust spots on the stainless blade from sweeting on it for 12 hours a day.
