Has anyone else ordered one of Emerson's pending Titanium Commanders. Apparently he is hand grinding these bad boys himself. His website mentioned a run of about 250. When I spoke to his office they said that he would probably make around 100.
I am curious about his previous titanium efforts. Any comments from owners?

I have a titanium La Griffe. I like the light weight and corrosion resistance. I don'tlike the carbide coating on the blade. it doesn't allow the edge to get as sharp as it would otherwise and since the La Griffe is more of a back up knife, I would rather have the razor edge than one that will hold a working edge, at best.

A titanium Commander would be a sweet thing to have, but with a price tag over $1200, I would rather buy a custom from a dealer and pay a few hundred less.

I'm still curious as to why these knives will cost this much. Even an Emerson fully handmade Ti-bladed CQC6 retails (not aftermarket) for $625.

The Ti-Commander has a hand ground blade and the rest of the knife is "selected" production components.

Is the knife going to cost this much because it's taking time out of Emerson's schedule to get these out. I've bought a couple of Emersons with hand ground blades, production handles and they were $300.

Good Question. After being told by an office person at Emerson Knives that they were very surprised by the strong response for the Tinanium Commanders I suspect that they were probing the market by putting a high price on the said knives. I guess it worked because I believe that they no longer have the posting at their website which may indicate a complete sellout on the run.
Is it alot for such a knife? Heck yes. However I do believe that they will appreciate over time as do all knives crafted by Emerson.
