I am just getting into linerlock folders. Is
titanium a good material for making the stop
pin? If not, then please tell me why and what would be the best material to use. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Barry,
For light duty, small bladed folders, 6Al4V pins will work. Knowing your knife style, you will probably be building them like I do. Recommend dowel pins, 18-8 ss or alloy) in .187. Most suppliers, MSC, Travers, sell them. They will take alot of hammering.

I'd say no, Ti you buy will be in a much softer state than you want for a stop pin and will thus peen easily. This will add up to play in the long run as the blade travels further back and the liner gradually slides up to compensate until it reaches the opposite scale and can go no further.

If there is a way to harden Ti for this application, I don't know it (but I'm not the smartest bear...) I'd recommend getting some hardened dowel pins from someplace like Smallparts.com, or simply cutting stop-pins from hardened drill shanks.
