I am pretty excited about this knife, and I have heard of a couple members actually seeing this knife at a show or something.
Any news on this knife? Maybe some far-out rumors? Just give me something!

All I know is that it was seen at the Amsterdam show a while back. I've heard nothing since.

I don't understand why Spyderco would go through the trouble of using titanium on a Byrd model. Seriously..

Can we have a link to where someone said this?

Here's a recent comment by Sal from this thread.

I think the reasoning behind using titanium in the Byrd line is the overall lower cost in the titanium itself and grinding/manufacturing because they're made overseas. I know the cost of titanium has skyrocketed recently, but does anyone know if any Chinese refineries produce their own titanium alloy at a much lower price than American refineries?

Have you ever tried a Byrd model? They have to be by far the best value in the knife world. The steel is very good, better than AUS 8 in my use, and the fit and finish and G-10 are great, and you get that for $20! If you bring that value scale to a titanium framelock, then a titanium framelock will now be accessible to a lot of people that don't want to or can't afford to drop $150 and up on a knife.

Yes, exactly. I'll go on even farther to say that there is a serious hole in the value priced Ti knife market ever since CRKT discontinued the S-2 framelock that they used to have on the market. I own several of the S-2 and it was an amazing knife for the money. I have to say that I'm extremely glad it is Spyderco who is filling that gap that CRKT left so wide open.

Just by the by, any chance on getting to see a pic of this model anytime soon???

Please Sal? Whaddya say?
