I don't have any experience with titanium, so I don't know how it is, apart from what I've been reading.

so do titanium frame lock wear out fast, compared to steel?

that will depend on some factors (like how much you use the knife, the thickness of the Ti, etc). some Ti frame locks have a steel insert bolted to the Ti lock bar which will wear out much slower than Ti.

which knives are you looking at?

It will wear out faster than steel, but if you don't use it a ton, and the lock is well-made, you'll probably never get to that point. For an example, a Strider has too steep of an angle, so it can wear out in a few months. But a Chris Reeve is designed better and the titanium is hardened, so it shouldn't wear out under normal use.

Ditto CRK. I have a 1997 Sebenza user that finally developed a little lockup issue last year. CRK fixed it for no charge.

I have wondered about this too. Has anyone experienced a Ti Framelock like an XM18 where the Ti or blade steel has worn away to the point that it's at 100% and the Framelock is touching the Ti liner?

I’ve only ever seen something close to that on a Strider.

If the lock geometry is correct and carbidized.... You'll be fine.

My two favorites are crk sebenza and spyderco Slysz Bowie.
