Hi there

I thought id make a Post about Titanium-Framelocks- Thumbholes.

Im gerneraly a fan of the spyderhole and think its a great way to open a knife I also rly like framelocks bec of reason.

Reacently got my slysz bowie and Love it but i think there are not enough other knifes like it.

Spyderco Techno might be to small for me. I also like the looks of the SNG but cant pull the trigger at that Pricepoint with all the fit and finish horror storys ive heard

Please share your Thoughts about this Topic of Maybe you have a good suggestion what Knife i might have missed ...

Kind regards

Yeah Spydiechef looks like a nice quality knife but im not a huge fan of the Bladeshape ..

Spyderco Advocate, then? I am not sure if it is available now due to the design revision.

Lionspy guy.

There are lots of framelocks with Spyderholes, many of them by Spyderco. Maybe look at the Spyderco Southard or Domino?

all nice but im mainly taking about thumbhole ONLY bec there are soo many Flippers out there

While I am not overly enamored of flippers, and generally prefer that there be a functional secondary opening mechanism, I don't discount a knife because it has a flipper tab. That is, of course, my choice...and if you want to exclude options because of a flipper tab, there's no reason for me to second guess your choice.
I like my SNG...and, truth be told, I prefer the oblong hole over the "spydie hole" for a couple of reasons. 1) The lower height of the hole doesn't require a hump or large increase in blade height to accommodate it (read: better aesthetics). 2) I find it is easier to deploy the blade with different fingers, without adjusting hand position; and I can manage just as easily with either hand (read: better function).
I know there are a few other brands that have some sort of "thumb hole"; but I am not experienced enough with them to comment. Brous is one that comes immediately to mind

IIRC... there's a framelock Military. it may be disco'd. I don't really follow Spyderco... but I'm pretty sure I've seen one. It has a thumb hole as the only opener and it's a Ti framelock.

That's where I was going Dale.
Excellent knife.

My Sage 2 Titanium gets a lot of pocket time. In fact, it was my first Spyderco, to fill the Ti framelock spot.

That's a really great looking Millie, Joe. How's the finish on the Ti handles? Is is smooth like the Slyz or more like a Sebenza?

I just looked in Folders for Sale and there's actually a fluted Ti framelock F/S today.

The Spyderco K2 hasn't been mentioned yet it seems...nice chunk of CPM10V...
Anytime I've pulled this one out with people around, someone just has to comment...lol
Too bad it was discontinued, but I'm sure one can be found...

I have a Dice, which I love, but I mostly open it with the Spydiehole anyway. Just a habit; I've used mostly Spyderco knives as EDC since the late 80's.

Hey Dale!
Smoother than the Sebbie.
I love the fluted Ti Millie! They made one that they anodized blue that was insane cool!!

They can definitely be found.
So can the Farid Mehr custom K2 in large and "mini".
I've been looking for the mini on the secondary market but keep on missing grabbing one in time.

Sacha Thiel Officer is worth a look. The hole is kind of an elongated oval so it will feel a bit different than a Spyder hole, yet it works pretty well.

There are also some licensed custom collaborators that make framelocks with Spyderholes.
I picked up a Filip de Leeuw/Deviant Blades recently. He does good work.

Miso- if you are referring to the spydiechef-can you elaborate or provide a source for the design revision?
I'm curious what they would be revising so soon after release. Looks like a nice composition from my arm chair :)

He's referring to the Advocate that Spyderco acknowledged a problem about and is updating.

aaaah... egg<on>face So that's why Advocate was capitalized.... ahem ;p Thanks Blademan.
Initially thought he was pseudo-mocking the spydiechef, as in "Spypderco fanboy, eh?" I'm interested in trying one out, but gave pause at the thought of a redesign already!
I've been on cynical troll-ridden forums for too long. Nice to be on BF.
