Titanium Investigator clip question

I would like to know if the pocket clip and screw that mounts the clip to the cap are made of titanium. If the screw and clip are not titanium, what metal is used? I ask because every picture I have seen on the web of a flamed titanium investigator pen show the clip and screw as not being flamed finish. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I bought an ED followed by the Investigator a month or two later. I anodized the ED's clip jeans-blue when I got it, so I assumed the Investigator's to be the same material and tried to do the same to it, only to find out it is indeed not titanium. In retrospect, I should've known because the Investigator's clip has a lot less spring to it, but I wrote it off as the effect of being shorter. Anyway, it is indeed not titanium but some sort of stainless; I can't tell you what type.

Thank you Kreole for your input. I am disappointed to find out the titanium investigator pen is not 100% titanium. I have a titanium extreme duty and it appears to constructed using 100% titanium. I will have to think about this before I pull the trigger on purchasing one.

You mean the ink is not made of titanium?!? My outrage is surpassed only by my sarcasm.

It probably wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to make the screw out of titanium, I am fairly certain it is stainless steel. I believe you are mistaken on the Investigator clip, I believe it is titanium, take a look at this picture from the Rick Hinderer Knives website:

Holy crap! He was talking about the INK.... that's different! My Ink is Tritium Amalgommate Sulfide. Duh, I thought Everybody knew that:rolleyes:
I did one of those prison tat's with it and when I tried to scrape it off, the ink snapped my knife blade edge off and...... ate it

I do know this about these pens as well as ALL products named "Hinderer" there is nothing about these products that wasn't analyzed/designed/engineered/ produced - that wasn't "created" with the thought in mind that this would not be the BEST possible output of effort possible. Second to None and above ALL.

Thank you for the picture from Rick Hinderer's web site. The picture of the flamed Ti investigator shows the clip is flamed also. This indicates the clip is made of titanium. If you look at other web sites such as Monkey edge or Plaza Cutlery the clips on the flamed Ti investigators are not flamed. I can only hope that Rob jumps in to provide the definitive answer if the current titanium investigator clip is made of titanium.

i always thought they were made of Ti myself; that's how they feel IMO

cap/screw = no, not Ti
