Titanium Shoe Said Too Dangerous
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LONDON (AP) -- A titanium-heeled designer stiletto has been
scrapped because its razor-sharp heel is a danger to people and
property.

London-based designer Manolo Blahnik produced the shoe for his
2002 spring/summer collection. But he withdrew the design after
he
realized the devastating effect of its spiked 3 1/2-inch
titanium heel.

``It is a heel he created out of curiosity but as soon as he saw
it he
realized he couldn't produce it for general sale because it
would
destroy floors and carpets,'' the designer's spokeswoman, Leslie
Whittaker, said Tuesday.

``But it is strikingly beautiful from a design point of view,''
she
added.

A Blahnik spokesman told the Daily Telegraph newspaper the
designer feared being sued by people injured by the shoes.
