on liner lock folders, are they heat treated in some way to keep some "spring" in the lock? or are they just bent enough and elastic enough to retain their spring?

what size Ti is normally used? (ie, thickness)

thanks

Its not pure titanium. Its 6al4v which is an alloy and has enough spring to it that it doesn't require heat treating.
Thickness varies widely, anywhere from .050" - .100", and some even thicker really. Depends on the type of knife, who made it and what thier preference is.

gathered that from the research i did after i posted this

wheres the best place to buy it from?

how do you cut it?

The key is to bend the lock in a radius, like a clock spring, rather than a "kink" at the back of the split.

There are many titanium alloys. I believe I heard there are twenty -nine at least. I like to use what is known as 6242. I find it works a little cleaner and finishes a little nicer which gives more vibrant colors and still has a good elasticity. I buy my titaniun from Chuck Bybee at Alpha Knife Supply .com They are great people to deal with. Frank
