Hi guys,

I have been looking to get a knife for my brother--he's a knife enthusiast.

Want to get him something a bit more premium. He really likes milled titanium scales, especially the sunburst or pinstripe variety.

The benchmade aluminum bugout fits his aesthetics but falls short when it comes to fit and finish.

I've been looking at the giantmouse biblio XL, but other than haven't found many options. American Bladeworks had a nice design that's sold out. And grimsmo have the rask and a new integral folder coming out, but they are a little expensive and the ordering process is absurd. Tactile makes a few nice options perhaps.

Anyone familiar with some brands or options that I can look into?

Lionsteel iss known for their integral folders... They have some sweet options with 1 piece solid titanium handles and great milling patterns

Like my old ti-spine for example. Great fit and finish. Also with nice damascus blades available on some models.

There's an American Bladeworks Model 2 on BladeBinge for $315 right now. I don't think we're allowed to link them here, but a quick Google search should get you there. If by chance it's gone by the time your get there, keep checking back. That site is actually the primary dealer for American Bladeworks.

I've given several Tactile Rockwalls as gifts. Even though I don't have one yet. lol

They are very impressive, unique and have ended up being the recipients favorite knives all three times. Fit and finish 10/10.

I’ve always liked the look of the SHF. Which blade steels are they available in aside from S45VN?
Damascus, with various patterns. I do not know all their base components. I suppose 'exclusives' with Magnacut are pending.

The options in scales are more about laser etching than anything else. Still Titanium, base.

Though, S45VN is a fantastic option and buyer need not worry.

[I want The Damascus and Dragon combo]

Here's a better picture of mine - I polished the scale flats, leaving the grooves dark.

I'm not trying to sell it; though I've occasionally considered it. Let's just say I've seen users posted at nearly 4x what I paid - that's why I've considered it...but, bottom line, I wouldn't be able to replace it for a price I'd be willing to pay; so I'm content to keep it unless/until somebody sways me.

Sounds like you both have a recipient that really knows his knives and is probably very particular, and that you don't mind spending some good money on it. Personally, I'd just tell him that you'd like to buy him a premium knife and you'd like to know which one he wants. You could tell him the models that you were already choosing between so that he has an idea of what price range you're looking to spend. That will circumvent the awkwardness of him not getting the one that really tickles his fancy, and that he'd rather trade for something else, but doesn't want to because it might hurt your feelings. I think direct communication is usually best, at least from my experience of running into that awkward situation over the years.

IMO , best just to give him the cash or at least ASK him what he wants ! ;)

Thus avoiding the wrong choice and awkwardness , hurt feelings etc .

Sometimes I have to return a knife that didn't live up to my expectations . Harder to do that, If someone else chose it for me as a gift .

I really like the variety of designs they have on the titanium handles. I need to get myself one.
