Titanium scaled knife?

Ok so I am looking into a project style knife that I can customize and work on that has titanium scales. I was looking into some Spyderco, ZT, Benchmade, heck I even thought about using a used small sebenza. Anyway what would you recommend from the companies listed as a good knife to work on having titanium scale and decent steel. Looking to keep it right around 300 maybe a little more. Thanks for the input!

If you're just looking for a project, maybe consider picking up a few Boker Plus Urban Trappers? Ti scales, VG-10 steel, bearing pivot. I think they go for around $75 NIB so you could get four to play with on your budget...:cool:

The ZT 0801 S110V looks like a great model for customizing. Nice, large'ish titanium surfaces to work your magic on. Several of the upcoming ZT models are also full titanium scales ripe for customization. The 0808 might be a good choice for that, as it has stonewashed ti handles and a polished ti backspacer.

How big of a blade would you want? Do you prefer a flipper? The new ZT 0900 would be a nice sub 3 inch knife if that is what you are looking for. If you want something much bigger a ti scaled spyderco Military is would have a lot of scale real estate to play with.

Three Sisters Forge Beast sounds right down your alley. 3" Blade, $300. Here's mine:

Man I love my Sebenza. It's just so classic and I feel good knowing CRK stands behind them. I had to send mine in right after getting it although the issue was probably of my own doing. I prefer more classic style knives with old fashioned good Looks. The ZT 0392 (?) is high on my list after people slow down on the scalping.

I agree with Brett, you are choosing some pretty expensive knives for a project knife. The Urban Trapper is a good suggestion, here a couple more budget friendly options.

AG Russell 3.0 Titanium Lockback
Boker Titan

I am currently looking into each of the suggestions so far, a lot of nice quality knives. Thanks a bunch and keep me coming!

Pretty much nailed it actually and I should've added this first. I enjoy many of the "manual of arms" that knives have, that being said I enjoy flippers and just a basic thin stud. I'm currently looking into a lot of the zts like the 801 or the up and comers. Also didn't know they made a ti military so thanks for that!

Also I like the urban trapper but the badly with all the holes in it don't look like something Id be interested in as I saw the CRKT M16/21(can't remember) but just didn't appeal to me.

You are somewhat limited when you chose a model like the 0801. It's all titanium. If you go with a model that has a G10 scale as well, you can do anodizing on the Ti side and custom scale on the G10 side. It doesn't get much better than the ZT 0550 for customizing and initial price. It's way cheaper than the $300 you mentioned so you would have lots left over for scale material.

Here's my 0801S110V I anodized in case you are interested.
