need a little titanium help here, i've been doing some research, but want to run it by you all before i try. i would like to make a titanium spacer with some texture in it like hammer marks or pitts.
i have been trying to find an etchant that isn't scary to deal with, but that doesn't sound possible.
what should i resort to then, masking and blasting?
is there another option,
i'd like to etch pretty deeply to create the desired effect
any ti guys out there with some creative solution?
thanks in advance
jon

Titanium will not etch with ferric chloride. To get a textured effect you can use a small round or teardrop shaped burr in a dremel tool and make lots of small dings.
Hope this helps,
CHuck

that's kinda what i was thinking, and kinda what i was afraid of, oh well, i guess i'll start getting some use of my dremel
thanks for the advice

thanks for the picture, that's pretty much exactly what i was looking for, i am thinking about dimpling it, then color treating it hopefully and then buffing the highs back to satin, hopefully sort of an antiqued meteor kind of look
