My 710 has a blade to back spacer contact issue. I'd like to install some titanium stand offs. Must the knife be completely disassembled to do this?

Absolutely. If not the simple thought of knowing it wasn't done in full and cleaned proberly will always be on the back of your mind. As long as you know how to put it back together that is. I'd imagine the warranty is only good if you send them back a bag of screws

That's a known flaw in their build process when the edge of the blade hits the spacer; So let them fix it for you. You will retain the limited lifetime warranty on your knife in the process. All you need to do is wrap the knife carefully, (Do not mail the original box, they toss them.) Use a small USPS Priority box. Any questions, their number is: 800-800-7427. They most always pay for returning the knife back to you.

Here's a link to the warranty service form for you, and hope that helps!

No.
It is definitely possible to remove the factory back spacer without disassembling the entire knife.

Losen the pivot screw a lot.
Almost all the way, but do not remove the screw.
Remove the two screws that are passing through the backspacer. At this point, the only thing that should be holding the backspacer in place are 2 plastic posts (1 in each liner) near the top of the backspacer (the end closest to the pivot). Grab the lanyard hole end of the backspacer and swing it out the back side of the knife.
Gently spread the liners at the very end of the knife near the lanyard hole.
At the same time grasp the exposed portion of backspacer and gently pull and twist.
The back spacer will come right out.
Do you have threaded standoffs or pass through barrel spacers?

I can confirm this works easy

No standoffs yet. Not sure what the differences are and trying to figure out if it is a worthwhile conversion.

A difficult thing to photograph, but you can see they won't make contact with the blade as they've a channel cut down the center. I like the little bit of color too.

  • BM were kind enough to send me a set of factory standoffs, only took a few minutes to swap them out.
