Hi all,

For the life of me, I can't recall the name and/or maker of a knife that I was interested in only a few weeks ago. I even sent an Email link to my own E-mail as a reminder (but I can not find the link)......arrrrr! At any rate, this much I do recall.....it is a smaller FIXED blade with about a four inch blade. The blade is (more or less) a NESSMUK style blade. The knife is FULL TANG. The knife company (if memory serves) is a well known AMERICAN company and I believe the Knife is made here in America. This knife was suppose to be released either late 2011-2012 but I recall there being a delay. The knife I believe has been released with quite some fanfare with much interest. This PRODUCTION knife is quite handsome and looks as if it's a more expensive knife than it's retail price (about eighty dollars if memory serves). I had seen this knife on sale on several sites. Most dealers of this knife have been "out of stock". Man, I can remember all this about this knife except the model and maker. Please help a guy (me) who must have short term memory loss....arrrr! Thanks for any help and especially pictures!

Regards,
HARDBALL

Condor knife and tool, seems to fit the bill.

wait wait....somethings coming back....Hunter-Skinner type knife.....there was some problem regarding the name at first and thus a name CHANGE! The name was changed but was similar to the original name.
Think Tom think! Woods Stalker ? Tracker ? arrrrrrrr.

This thread made me laugh.I can totally see myself posting something like this. Now go buy your knife before you forget again!:D

Hi FBC,

I'm glad this thread made somebody laugh! Dear God, I can't believe I completely SPACED OUT and couldn't remember this knife. Not only did I REsend myself a (well POSTED) link to my email with the name of the knife, I also wrote it down on paper lol. Regarding this KA-BAR.....I've only seen pictures of this knife and it looks to be a beautiful "all around" fixed blade belt knife for the money. A four inch blade is just about perfect in my book for a Belt carry knife. I personally like the "Nessmuk" style blade. I have never used this style of knife before but, sometimes you just have to go with what strikes your fancy. This KA-BAR is also American made, and the cost is quite reasonable. I also happen to like ORANGE for the Woods. Orange is one of my favorite colors. As soon as I can "Pony up" an extra forty something dollars, I will order this Knife! My "guts" just tell me it's a lot of knife for the money.

Regards,
HARDBALL

HB: You must mean the KaBar #5600 potbelly ? I just got it & have not used it yet. It is different but i love it so far. Makes many hand positions possible. It is a 1/4" thick, which scares many people away. Me, i ain't scared, i can sharpen me a 1/4" blade & even reprofile it if need be on my belt sander. Honestly though, just one swipe on each side of my butchers steel had it shaving hair & paper like no tomorrow. I have a wicked addiction to knives, especially KaBars, BK&T & yes, (sigh) Ontario's. I am about an hour & a half from where they are all made. This is not even close to all of my Kabars & BK&T & Ontario blades. I really have quite a few. Wish i could get out more than i do to use them. Although i just got back from 4 days of camping (ok, not real camping-in our 30' toyhauler camper) & batoned 4 days worth of firewood with my BK-9 & KaBar # 1248 Cutlass Machete.

OSF: It is a Collins & Co. Legitimus machete that i traded my 12" Kentucky belt axe for. The previous owner modified it. He made the handle Becker-esq, trimmed the end & made the inside hook. I just spent a day sharpening the blade, the inside hook & the other 2 tip edges. I gotta have a sheath made sometime soon for it. I already drew blood (mine) with it, on the pointy razor sharp tip on the hook. :o

Hi TS,

Yes indeed, the POTBELLY! I have seen pictures of it before and it looks to be quite the impressive large'ish knife.
I did not however realize the Potbelly is 1/4" thick! Wow! I've noticed the Potbelly is also reasonably priced. I'm glad you had fun batoning firewood on your Camping trip. Yes, it's difficult finding time to get outdoors as much as I'd like to as well. I am however in the process of setting up a lil' Camp in my Woods off the back of my property. I figure since time
(Gas and money) is in short supply, I might as well use my own 3.3 Acres to play. I am currently trying to learn about the 18th. Century living style and recently joined a New England 18th. Century living History group (on line). Lots of excellent information. I also have a Deer Stand on my property and plan to Deer Hunt (Archery) this year/season as I will have more time due to work change hours/days. Oooh TS, you might find this interesting......I just picked up an old Legitimus Collins & Co. Made in the USA NO. 323 vintage Machete (with Canvas sheath) from an old Barn here in Maine. It's really COOL! It has an 18" (kind of) Bolo style blade. I was hoping the handles might of been Horn but, no such luck. I did the heated pin test only to discover the handles were indeed plastic. Nevertheless, it's a nice ol' Machete. I wish I could figure out the exact date. I have also searched the net "Google" and have yet to find a picture anywhere of my Machete style blade.
I like the way the NO. 323 feels in the hand! Very swift, light and fast! TS, please do keep me posted on your Woods Stalker use/impressions.

Regards,
HARDBALL aka Tom
