TJ vs PJ balls

I decided to make a batch each of both tonight and tested one of each when I was finished to see which ignited easier, expecting them perform the same. To my surprise, the PJ balls seemed to ignite much more easily than the TJ. I used Walgreens Triple Antibiotic and it was pretty tough to get it started and I think it would have been easier to ignite shredded birch. Anyone else have this issue?

Another idea to try is cotton balls dipped halfway into melted candle wax. If you leave enough cotton exposed, they will take a spark really easily, and the wax makes them burn a looooong time. I never carry PJ anymore.

I've been meaning to try that too. I like to keep fire making supplies in three different places; One set in my regular gear, one in my first aid kit, and one in my belt kit. I think I might add the wax balls to my regular fire making setup as they wouldn't serve another purpose whereas the PJs are good for chapped lips and the TJs work for cuts and scrapes.
