Matt Lamey is finally getting some of the media attention that he deserves. The newest issue of Tactical Knives (Nov. 2001) has a nice review of a couple of his knives by Anthony Lombardo. I met Matt at Blade Show 2000 and he showed me one of his medium size bowies. I was blown away, especially when he told me how long he had been making knives. From the pics in the article (and ones I've seen here on the forums) it looks like he has actually improved, which says a lot. If you want one of Matt's knives I would suggest ordering one now, because I feel this article will be only the first of several. His prices are a bargain right now, and will only go up as he gets to be more well known.

Good review by Anthony Lombardo too btw.

Way to go Matt!

Just read the article tonite. Makes me want my knife all the sooner. The article had good things to say about his forged 5160. Can't wait to get my hands on 9" of it in my soon to be finished Camp Bowie. It certainly looks like it will be all I have imagined it to be. Congrats to Matt and Anthony on a great review :)

I don't mean to brag here fellas, but I wrote about Matt two years ago saying he was one to watch! This article doesn't surprise me a bit. Matt is a class A maker and a class A person.

I have several Matt Lamey knives (6 of 'em!)including one of his first. My 2 son's first custom knives are from Matt and he is making a bowie for me now!

I can't wait to see the article. Congratulations Matt, well deserved!

I don't mean to brag fellas, but I started a thread just like this one last week!

I just read the article last night. I have been an admirer of Matt's work for a while. I keep threatening to order one of his Bowies, and I guess I need to get busy. Great review.

I own the D2 Sunrise Fighter mentioned in the TK article on Matt Lamey (Kevin Pensinger mentioned earlier this year to me this knife was one of the featured blades). I'll have to get a copy of TK and read the article in question before passing judgement on it.

As for the knife, it feels very good in the hand and have no complaints about it so far. I am thinking about doing a "Gaucho style" knife test(leg of lamb, etc.) to satisfy my curiousity as to its performance.
