Hello. I've been a member for a while and never posted so please be gentle. S I get oder I get simpler. I was cleaning my edc stuff and realized that my main edc knife is, technically stolen property. I often carry a Wireman's knife that my rich Uncle Sam graciously allowed one of his Misguided Children to abscond with. Does anyone else carry these daily? Is it to heavy? Are there any cool mods? (OK, truth be told, I have several of these knives. Uncle Sam was VERY lax with these gems. Heck, I was an infantryman. Imagine what the commo guys made off with. )

First, thank you for your service. Remember, there's only one thief. Everyone else is just trying to get their stuff back.

There are a whole bunch of great mods for this knife. Our very own Glennbad has a whole bunch of great knives he's done. I even own one! This is in amber stag from new, unassembled parts from when the Camillus factory shut down.

Thank you for your service, and welcome officially to the porch! Glenn is certainly the king of the TL29, and a really nice guy to boot. He helped me get started modifying knives with advice and a free assortment of wonderful handle materials. I modified one TL29 with a hawkbill blade by making it into a sheepsfoot blade, and gave it to a friend who started working as a carpenter. I do plan on making a TL29 with only a screwdriver, in an ultralight package for fun sometime.

Connor I've posted these elsewhere a while back but in case you missed them a couple of knives from a Colonial 3 Bladed Electrician

Derek those are fantastic, a cool idea to pair them up, and very nice job on them![emoji106]

The TL-29 is a nice package; I've got a Camco and the blade will cut amazingly. Only thing I don't care for is the #%*^ bail -maybe if I were using the knife with a lanyard it would be an asset, but for a civilian the thing is a nuisance. I've accidentally shut the blade on it more times than I care to count, and judging by the deep nicks it bears, the previous owners had the same issue.

I love my TL-29. I carry it often. I love the screw driver most of all. Out of all the patterns and styles, I like this one the best.

I love me some TL-29. One of the hardest working knives ever made. A have both a stainless and a carbon steel Camillus.

My wife found me another one at a gun show this past weekend. She's cool like that.

Seen here again (right) with my first TL-29 (left)

Here is my first TL29 "mod". It's not much but it made is much more user/pocket friendly. I cut off the bail and peened the pin. I also cut off the locking part of the liner so it doesn't stick out any more. It's crude, but I like it!

I have a few and do not carry them but rather collect them. They were made by a few companies and I always found the screwdriver blade hard to open.

I love that pattern. That was the first knife I can remember using. It was my grandpaps and it was given to him by my dad when he got out of the army. He used that thing for everything...cutting apples whittling... Working on things. When he passed away if was placed in his pocket where it belonged. I need to search the eBay for one.

You may be interested to know that the TL29 was used by the French Army Signal Corps (génie) in Indochina and made under license by Valfor.

That is interesting.
I see a lot of them, but don't buy them any more unless the screwdriver opens easily, which is pretty rare.
