TN knife law

I understand TN allows a 4" folding knife. So why do folks carry fixed blades during hunting season? I was concerned in particular about the legality of the Ronin, and Emerson's Persian folder.

Fixed blades are okay as long as they conform to the 4" limit.

Is mere possession of a blade larger than 4" completely illegal in TN or does it get weeded out under the "With intent to go armed" portion of the law? I don't carry anything but folders on a regular basis but a 4" limit, that sucks.

Just wondering if I am an official TN outlaw.:D

Thanks in advance,
NS6

It is with the intent to go armed. Pretty much unless you are in the woods a knife with a blade over 4" will be considered to be carried with intent. Here in Knoxville people are regularly charged for having a knife over 4". :(

Can active duty mil, police, etc. have over 4"?

No exceptions for line of work that I know of.

gun show on school property; passenger pick-up or drop-
off]

If I read this whole thing correctly it's OK to carry an AR but no knives over 4". Weird.

On the other hand SS, While active and stationed at FTCKY I carried a Glock field knife all the time. No one ever hassled me over it either. (and lived to tell about it. ;)

The one exception I see may be in the act of hunting or at a gun and/or knife show. The thing is, I see blades much larger than 4" at the gun and knife shows all the time. Why doesn't anyone hassle them? Is that an actual defense? Also I would like to know hth (how the heck) I am supposed to get to my hunting or G&K show without carrying it.

I really want to start selling at the TN gun and knife shows in the Nashville area but am a little worried to show up now as I have several fixed blade knives over 4".

Anyone interested in pooling some time/effort, law knowledge to get the law changed in TN?

Edit to add: Are there any knife rights organizations that already exist that can act as a resource for getting the law changed?

Thanks, NS6
