TNT: Ambi or Dexter?

While I am patiently waiting to make it to the top of Tom's waiting list for a medium TNT I am trying to decide if I should go with the ambidextrous opening cutouts for the thumb hole. I am right-handed and anticipate rarely if ever to have to open the knife left-handed, but the (near) symmetry of the cutouts appeals to me and it looks like it might make the knife grippier with the finger groove.

However, since I have never held a TNT these are just guesses. What do you guys (especially owners of TNT's) think?. Do you like the ambi option or do you prefer single-sided cutouts on your knives? And how does it affect the ability to close the knife?

Thanks, protodoc

Proto, first off let me say what a wise choice you have made to order a TnT from Tom. I have 4 of them and they are great! Ok, I got an XL from Tom at Blade and carried it for a few days and finally decided I wanted to be able to open it with either hand. I went to my grinder and fixed it and now its perfect. I suggest you go ahead and tell Tom to make it ambidextrous for you. You can't go wrong with it like that. I have a couple of knives on order from Tom at this time also. I can't wait to get them.

TNTs rule! I can open mine with either hand. Still shaving sharp and sitting clipped to my pocket.

Oh NO!!!!!! another person on "the LIST".......

:(

Go with the Ambi-option....makes a nice finger cutout and looks more "balanced" to me.......

Another vote for the ambi option. I have it on mine and wouldn't want it any other way. There will come a time when you find yourself holding something in your right hand that needs to be cut and you can't let go with your right hand.

The one I have on order includes the Ambi option... I think it makes the knife look more balanced, and probably aids in grip.

I have a medium without the ambidexterous bevel on the lock. I wish it had one, although I'm still able to open it with either hand. It just takes a little more practice. I find that the knife fits in the hand better with the relief cut than without. I'm too attached to the knife to part with it for Tom to add the ambi option, so I would suggest that you get it while the knife is being made to avoid parting issues :)

Thanks for all the responses. This is a pretty strong endorsement of the ambidextrous cut outs. Since this is how the order stands I will not have to change it.

Now, does anyone know any card games that I can use to pass the remaining four months I will have to wait until receiving this little jewel from the man on the island? ;)

i am a lefty..and the cut out not only adds re-sale (GOD forbid) to the knife (lefty's buy them too) but allows for a more even gripping of the handle..i see no reason to EVER go with the single side, except i think i have seen a couple of handle options, that would only allow that set up...

the right watch could get you up PAST the top of the list! :)
And Jerry.......you mean you havent sold that knife yet?? Are you ok?:p

Tom,

I would love to bribe you with that special watch but since I am spending my money on knives right now, the only watch I own is an $80 Invicta copy of the Rolex Submariner. Actually not a bad mechanical watch but I doubt it would skip me more than one spot ahead.
