I´m one of those poor souls living outside of USA (no irony and yes, I´m moving). I want to discuss how easy it is to do business with people living outside CONUS who do their homework...
This is not a post about people who only want to do business in CONUS but about those people living outside CONUS that can´t do their homework. To them all I say:
-Call the customs office BEFORE you buy/sell/trade stuff.
-Check with the post office and the person you are doing the deal with what might be the best way to ship the stuff between your countries.
If your customs office or post office can´t answer your questions, face the fact - the shipping in your country sucks
and if you still are eager (I know that feeling, eager is an understatment, it´s more like a fever) make sure that the guy or girl in CONUS knows about it.
Some people living outside of CONUS seem to know that their customs office is swamped with work or doesn´t care to find out. Then hell breaks loose (over at GBU) because it takes up to and sometimes beyond four weeks to recieve an item sent.
I live in Sweden (northern Europe) it takes FIVE (5) working days to get a package from anywhere in USA to my doorstep (if it´s Saturday, otherwise I have to got to the postoffice 300 feet down the road).
READ THE ABOVE PARAGRAPH AGAIN. How do I know this? Well, I did my homework and also asked around for help here at Bladeforums. Several trades/buy/sell later I know it for a fact. Please do the same before you buy/trade stuff between countries.
I can understand why some people don´t want to do business outside CONUS. Please Mr/Mrs OCONUS (Outside Continental USA) do your homework so that a hardworking student in the cold northern Europe can at least enjoy some cool knives and gadgets. Don´t make knife- and gunloving people in USA afraid of doing business outside of USA. Make my life a little better by not making it worse.
Thanks, rant mode is officially off...
sorry... OFF

(oh, and any ****** spelling or grammar in this post doesn´t make the shipping slower
)
