Happy Father's Day!

For my family, I am the only one who is awake at the moment. My wife and daughter will accompany me on a hike later this morning. (Our boys are attending Summer School at college, but even if they were at home this weekend, they wouldn't want to go on a hike anyway.) We live less than a mile from the Almaden Quicksilver County Park, which is an excellent place to hike and see wildlife. See: http://www.newalmaden.org/AQSPark/index.html

For those lucky who are fortunate enough to have your father still among us, be sure to give him a call today, to wish him an enjoyable Father's Day. I'll be calling my dad later this morning, and will be bringing him a case of two of wine in just over two weeks when I visit my parents.
 
Although my own father is gone...but never forgotten...I wish all of you a very happy Father's Day!

Oh, and Happy Summer Solstice, too! :D
 
Today is the 22nd anniversary of his passing.

I miss him daily.

my dad passed in '93. i miss him. i look in my childrens eyes and hope to do half a superb job then he did.

Ken, thanks for the reminder to call my Dad today -- I'll tell him to bring some beer when he comes over for barbequed baby backs this afternoon. :D

Seriously, happy Fathers Day to all the Dads. Today is a day for me to appreciate how lucky I am, with my wife and girls with me, and the fact that I still have my own Dad to celebrate with.

This is my first fathers day without my Dad. Needless to say it has been kinda rough.
But to all you other dads out there, Happy fathers day. Be sure to give you dads a great big hug and tell him how much you love and appreciate all they have done.

It gets better with time, Doby. It never goes away ... but it does get better.

I lost my father in 1993 and my grandfather in 1996. I think of them often and always on Father's Day.

I like to think I'm doing a good job of holding our collective end up, down here. On today of all days.

So here's to all our Fathers and Grandfathers, be they present or absent.:thumbup:
