After ooooing and aaahhhhing over the pics I had seen, I decided to pick up one for myself.

#71 Bull Nose with green linen micarta handles. First traditional and first slip joint. The fit and finish is impeccable for a $50 knife. I wish it took a bit less force to open the blade, but perhaps it will break in in time.

I just got mine in the mail today too and had the exact same thought about how much force was needed to open it. I have a feeling that I'll be buying many more. It is such a good looking knife and feels great in my hand.

Oil the joints!!!!!

Do not confuse that with getting oiled with the whiskey.

It DOES get easier to open after some usage. My maroon micarta Bull Nose had a heavy pull initially as well but after 2 weeks of "exercising", it's eased off to the point where I can open it by pinching the blade and not using the nail nick.

They're just such great knives, aren't they? For the price, I'm tempted to get another just to keep as a backup!!:p

I've been considering the same idea.

Jprime - Great first choice. Be careful though, there is a lot on this forum that will call to you. Especially with some of these collections and photo skills. Welcome to the forum.

Nice! I admit to having an admiration for Sodbusters. I only have one but I like it - it's my "dirty jobs" beater knife and it handles those tasks with ease.

On behalf of all Bullnose owners everywhere, you're welcome! :devilish: That is great knife for your first foray into the traditional world.
