Off the deep end.
In for a penny in for a well, hundreds of dollars.
So my Endura was upgraded:

Actually though, those scales were interim, holding the pattern while the Ti scales came in from Flytanium. The Fly scales came then went back out as I had an idea I wanted to try.
Engraving.
Not just any engraving, some serious shit.
It's the OCD.
Except, now I kinda really like them red scales!
Yes, of course two knives.
Anyways, I stated a thread called something like 'knife that makes you run' or something because I always thought that the serrated Endura looked kinda crazy.
It's on the larger side and that edge is wicked sharp.
So I thought, it needs something else.
The devil?
No, I didn't want Satan on my knife.
Happens I took Japanese art history so I went this way:

The kanji is oni which is like a Japanese demon or ghost or something evil.
You get the idea.
The engraving is freakin awesome, pics don't do it justice.
The problem is I miss the color!
So BF, should I anodize?
Or don't mess with it?

discuss

By the way, overall I don't really like the Flytanium scales. They add more weight than the WiseMen aluminum.

I don’t care for scary faces or skulls, but someone would love to own that art knife.

Maybe sell it, buy a new one, and start again with a new design and colors?

Oh no I keeping this as I'm super happy with how it came out.
Just not sure if anodizing is going to make me super DUPER happy.
The anodizer has me convinced to go.
Just figured I'd throw it out there...

I vote on a “sunburst” style heat ano. In the center of each scale where your engravings are do a bronze/straw color, then on each end it should fade into a deep purple color. You will still be able to see the engravings and it will have a little bit of a dark halo effect around the oni

I read somewhere that the flytanium titanium isn't of the best quality and might lead to uneven/inconsistent anodizing. Thankfully, it's a no harm / no foul thing with titanium, so if this turns out to be the case, all you do is dip it back in the acid and you're back where you started from.

Unfortunately that amount of heat may ruin the enamel in the lines, otherwise I'd be all for it.

I've don't generally have problems with it. The key is patience in prep work.

I've had inconsistent results in the past with titanium from Flytanium, MXG, Spyderco and Chris Reeve. That wasn't the material, it was me not knowing how to do it right.

Fine line between classy and garish .

Don't overwhelm the artwork .

You bring up a valid point! Whether this example can be beauty or gaudy is certainly a personal opinion. I personally like it, but I'm biased :) 20201218_064844~2_resize_42.jpg
