To Blue or Not to Blue? Small Insigno

I am in the market for my first CRK and I chose the small sebenza insigno with micarta inlays. I decided I wanted to order it direct from factory so I have option to customize and I like idea of buying direct. I love the iconic blue thumb studs on the classic seb and I know the standard insigno comes with silver hardware. I dont see too many insignos with blue hardware. Any of you have blue on yours? Specifically small insigno with micarta

Got a small plain Insingo from KA last week with blue hardware. This is a replacement for my first which was stolen but it too had blue hardware. Maybe it's just the Micarta that comes standard with silver?
If I were ordering direct, dual thumb studs would be a priority.

Right, I meant the micarta version comes standard with silver. I am a righty. Would you still suggest dual thumb studs for potential resale value? As a righty, don't see purpose unless missing something. Thanks for your input!

I know little of resale value and care less about bling. I'm a user and I found the last I owned with dual studs was easier to open. It's probably about having a good reference point so that my fingers found the studs quicker. Additionally, sometimes I find myself working on something with the right hand and have to put it down to open my knife. At those times I wish I had dual. If mine ever goes to the spa, it will.

I think there's a lot to be said for first time users picking up one they might like on the sales forum and using it long enough to get a feel for what you want. They hold their value so well you'll rarely lose much if any $$ going that route when u resell it.

IMHO the knife is the most perfect EDC that CRK makes. I prefer to root for the underdog, but I gotta agree with the masses on this one. I like variety, so rotate through other models, but if I'm honest with myself, this knife is perfect for almost anything you need a pocket knife for in normal life. Pierces blister packs, and makes fine linear cuts better than the standard point, which helps my in my job as an electrician.. The blue mostly rubs off the deployment side of the thumstud, as you would expect, but stays put on the backside, lanyard pin, and backspacer.

This is what the same knife looks like these days:

Thanks to your old thread, I found TNK. All of the blued ones are sold out but they have pictures of them. I decided I will get blue. Now the decision of single vs double. I definitely prefer the look of the single, but do think the double adds some functionality long term, even if I don't see a need now. Decisions, decisions.. :-)

I prefer single silver lug on my small micarta insingo, but if you like blue then go with it. Same for the double lugs. I've never seen one with double blue lugs, but it'd make yours a little more unique than most.

Yea, I love how the blue pops after looking at pictures. I've decided on blue thumb stud and backspacer, and bead blasted screws. I will most likely do the single lug. Thanks for all the input

^^^^Nice !!

I prefer the sliver due to the blue wearing but blue definitely wins in looks with the micarta!
Either way your winning.

It doesn't matter, just be sure you get a Small Micarta Insingo. It's the best knife they make at the Chris Reeve factory.

I was too busy worrying about backspacer and thumb lug I forgot about the lanyard pin!!!! Might as well get that blue too, no?

Colored lanyard pins - the color is only seen when looking into the knife, right? The blue lanyard pin wouldn't show its face without peering into the knife? I was confusing lanyard pin and backspacer for a bit

The lanyard pin shows through the sides (my lanyard is missing in my photos, as I don't use a lanyard on my small Insingo, but you can see the side of the pin in blue. The pin can be left in with no lanyard on the small 21). I might be wrong, but I thought ordering the Blue thumb-studs automatically meant blue back-spacer and lanyard pin. I've never seen a dealer-offered knife where it wasn't all matching.

My advice to you if you plan on using this knife:

If you like things worn in (I.E. faded jeans / old leather belt / grandpas pocket watch / etc), go blue. The stud and other parts show some wear, and contribute to the overall "used" look.

If you want to use it, but are super OCD and want it to stay "perfect" looking (I.E. pocket sheath, spa treatment every 5 months / have a Spyderco in your other pocket for real jobs), get the silver studs.

My advice if this knife will be a safe-queen: Go blue, as its really a beautiful thing, especially with the new grey (unused) surface on the micarta.

You're right. They probably do match it up, didn't realize that either. Just wanted to make sure nothing I was missing before submitting my order lol. I did ask if they could bead blast the screws but they do not offer different screw treatments at this time
