To Buy or Not? Kershaw Damascus Shallot 1840DAMCKT

Hope y'all had a great Christmas!

I'm looking into possibly getting a Kershaw Damascus Shallot. I love everything about the knife.

What I need to know, as I'm still fairly new to the knife world, is whether it makes more sense to purchase this knife to simply sell it later at a better price than I bought it.

My knife philosophy is practical. I want to use the knives I own, and I love how the knife looks and I know I'd love to use it, but I don't have the big bucks to shell out and $100 or more is a lot to spend for a knife that would be best kept safe to be sold later.

Does anyone know how many of these were made? Could anyone project how much the price may increase over time?

I know this is not easily answered, but any input is appreciated!

Have a Happy New Year!

Most knives are not good investments, meaning that you seldom make a significant profit off of them, especially when you include postage and paypal fees, etc.

But they are beautiful tools to own, use, and fondle. I personally like damascus and find them very usable. My advice is to buy what you desire, for enjoyment, not to resell. If you get lucky and it goes up in value, all the better. But don't count on it.

I own 2 of them, one in each handle color/finish. First of all ,if you want the knife and can afford it... buy it. Use it, the Damascus used does hold an edge very well and is nice "Random Pattern". Second of all, one Shallot DAM isn't enough to retire on unfortunately. But it is a really nice knife in any configurations come to think of it. I own several Shallots and they are all very well made and get the job done.
