So what would it be? If you were ordering a Boss Jack (or you already did) would you get it with a Choil, or without and why?

Me, I like having the added control a Choil gives on any blade longer than 3-4".

No choil. I just prefer them that way on blades 6" and less because I want all the cutting edge I can get.
I like the choils on my sjtac & nmsfno though; on the nmsfno because I've actually used it (I feel I have enough cutting edge) and on the sjtac, it just looks prettier with a choil.

I got a large, small and no choil. Better to get them direct from the shop now instead of paying the premium later. :D

I used to take issue with the size of the Busse choil but in continued use I've found it to help a lot, and not once has it hindered me. Now I'm all for the choil.

In fact I was using my War Dog the last couple days and found myself wishing the choil was bigger!

I like choiless on the BJ so I can get as much cutting edge as possible, and so nothing hangs up it.

Choil.

I consciously choke up due to muscle memory and have cut myself on choiless knives before.

Plus I find sharpening choiless knives a little annoying.

Plus, choils look better.

:D

I bought one of each and really prefer the choil. It's purely an aesthetic thing for me. I haven't done any cutting or chopping where I require the entire cutting edge. The choil-less one is a CG and is the user. The choiled one is the LE and is only fondled (in a consensual way).

NEVAR!!!!

Personally I do not want a choil on any knife that will be used for cutting. If it's a dedicated chopper, I let it pass but only because the chopping edge will almost never interact with the choil space. On a knife like the KZ, I can use the rounded gaurd at the ricasso to move my hand forward for snap cuts/reduced arm fatigue, I don't find that I need the choil even for the choked up position, since it's not going to be comfortable regardless of how it's designed, the choil is not a handle.

Also, the choiless balance is amazing and I wouldn't want to mess with it. I've handled SHSJ's with choils and I find the balance on the newer choiless boss jacks to be better, with a slightly more blade heavy feel.

I have a hard time imagining the knife with out a choil. I've never had an issue with a finger choil in use, but when I first saw them they looked a little weird to me. Love um now though

Tough call, I went no choil. On the 6" blade I can change my grip to get my thumb far up on the spine for control, plus the added benefit of not getting hung up on anything Is appealing. I figured models with choils would be more common on the exchange later should I desire one.

I probably go with choil....more control.
If I need more cutting edge, I'll go with bigger knife.

I don't have the money for one but I would go with no choil; then if I had the extra money I would also get a LE with a choil, but just cause it looks cool. If feels weird to me to choke up that high on a knife, like it defeats the purpose of the handle (unless the handle and choil were integrated somehow, hmmm....).
