Hey folks,

I'm part way through my first build and have a quick design question: do you think I should grind the front edge to a clip point on this knife or grind it back to a 90deg. edge (it's halfway between at this point)?

Also, do you prefer the curved leading edge or or more of a straight aspect? I think it works with the other curves of the blade, and handle, opinions?

Cheers

Yeah leave it as is!
Maybe drill a hole in the top front corner.
I like an edge to have a bit of curve

One thing I'd change. The top of the handle at the beginning of the blade. Do you want it to be round like that? The problem with it is that it will be a very thin piece of wood that will easily break off att he spine when the wood is shaped.

Yes & no :D I intend to try and keep an angle there, but I’ll have to see how the oak behaves once I start sanding/rounding it. Even if I have to blunt the “point” part at the top, i’m aiming to keep the recursive shape that follows up from the rear of the blade. The top “point” might end up shortened and less acute.

Thanks the the feedback!

Love the blade shape:thumbsup: One more vote for keeping it as is. You might want to peen the ends of the bolts over to avoid hot spots. Just kidding about the bolts:D
