To comb, or not to comb...

Hey all, no this isn't a "should I shave my head" thread (my wife would kill me!), it's about your preference on DE razors with an open comb (teeth), or that safety bar just under the blade. I own 3 Gillette tech ball end DE's, and I like them a lot, but I ran across an open comb razor and the shave seemed more comfortable. What have your experiences been? Thanks all!:)

I have one razor that's open comb (Gillette Old) and one that is a Bakelite kinda copy of a Gillette Tech that has a comb with the teeth connected along the bottom. Haven't shaved with the Old yet. The Bakelite razor shaves really well with a sharp blade. It's very mild. All my other DEs are safety bar types.
I don't have a strong preference either way.

Go ahead and shave your head. Damn what your wife thinks. Sometimes ya gotta remind the hen who the rooster is.:D:foot:
My wife doesn't like me shaving my head, but it's more comfortable and convenient. If I get dirt or grease in my hair at work, it's a pain to get it out of my blond hair.
If I get it on my shaven scalp, it's a simple wash job.

Right now isn't the best time to start shaving a noggin. That summer sun is brutal until you get a little sun on that tater.

Seriously though, what kind of open comb razor did you get? I hear that a lot of them are super aggressive.
I'd like to try a slant bar razor. I could do 2 passes instead of 3 and get the same results.

Been thinking bout an open comb razor myself. Some people say they are fearsomely aggressive, maybe not the thing for head shaving.....

I can't tell what the brand of the razor is, it has no markings, although it did come in a leather Gillette box. As far as being more aggressive, maybe I was just using it more carefully (first time using it and all), but I didn't nick myself at all, which I usually do with my other de's...and as for the sun baked grape, I cut my hair down to a "zero," but the wifey says that completely bald is a bridge too far. :)
