To all those who took my absence as a premature death, it was greatly blown out of all proportions.

I picked up my SH-E during May from Andy and as always, what a pleasure to have lunch with Andy and Greg Namin. Both super cool guys and a good reason to pass via NY if you can.

It is no secret that I have abused …….sorry, make that used my SH since I got my first one in 1996 from Jerry. Thanx Andy for keeping me awake at night as I still have the dog tags and cordura sheath that my first SH came in. I then progressed to the INFI SH and that was a religious experience. The kind that you one day drive your grand children nuts with on a bad Alzheimers day.

Since May I have been using the SH-E …… what can I say. The grip is much better on my wrist when hard use is encountered. The less pronounced beak at the back has eliminated my Busse pinky totally, which is sad as this was a great source of pride

I have found that when fresh, the ability to cut hard wood is about equal between the SH and SH-E but after 1 hour or so of chopping, I note a widening gap in performance. The E just has the edge that would normally be reduced by fatigue.

My wish now ….. a Busse Custom (unique of course) with a high quality 45, sold as a limited edition ……mamma, now your cooking and where is Mr. Prisco to take that order!!! Andy, no Tupperware for me though !!! Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel !!!

Aubrey, so glad to see you pop up, hope all is well on your side of the globe. Glad to hear that you haven't become part of the food chain out on the Serengeti or some other awesome place.

Real knives (Busses), real off-road trucks (Land Rovers) and real guns (.45's), I knew there was a reason I liked you, LOL!

Ya know, that special combo .45 and Busse sounds pretty darn tasty. Can't imagine the size of the mushroom cloud something like that would produce...

Hi Guys

Don't know about Andy's preferance in kitchen ware ..... messed with some Tupper but back to solid steel.

What I am looking at is something like one of the proto's combat variants ...images to follow with a top quality 45 like a Kimber or Springfield loaded ....... [)

Like this .....with a nice 300 Win Mag

Or this with a loaded 45 ...

or with a 454 or 44 Mag .....

Greedy as usual .... and who said there were no Busse's in Africa !!

PS ... I still cannot link the images ...must be stupid !!

Hey Aubrey

I think we have similar tastes. I carry a Kimber Stainless Target with my SHII.

Aubrey,
Nice pics!

How do the BM and BM-E compare? How does the difference in blade width effect performance? In terms of general utility does one have an advantage over the other?

TIA,
Rich

Hmmmm, that is something I have put down to my own personal performance .....

I found that for the first few minutes of heavy chopping, I can do better with the BM than the E but when fatigue sets in ...the E just keeps on ticking.

The initial advantage to the BM is likely due to the wider blade but also, I grew up with straight knives .... I tend to be misaligned for them

Thanks for the reply Aubrey.
For general slicing, dicing and utility work, does the wide blade have an advantage?

Rich

My new SH Variant and BM-E really seem to like playing in the woods with the Kimber Gold Combat, or when something smaller is called for, the Pro Elite. Both great guns.

On the rifle, you must try the 6.5 x 284. It is replacing the 300wm in Highpower comps, winning many. Shoots like the 300, with the recoil of a very, very light 308. Coyote at 450 recently

A special pair...good idea. The Prisco Practical Tactical anyone? In steel, please.

The actual blade width diff's is small when seen against blade width. Theoretically the wider blade should have a thinner profile with less steel on the edge. In reality, I have found the INFI makes this academic .....not real benefit I guess ...but then, I also still like steel 45's

Derrick....is that smoke from your Kimber or something else? A fine cigar perhaps?

Ahhhh, the pleasures of a fine firearm, INFI steel, and an Ashton VSG............

....it's a distinct possibility.
Or it could be from one of those "REAL Cuban Monte Cristos" I picked up in Tijuana last month

I use a Steel Heart II both as a cigar cutter and to cut the cheese (among other things)
