Any golf courses that use caddies in your area? My son is 13, soon to be 14, and is fortunate to live less than 2 miles from two Country Clubs. The pay can vary widely - one club pays $20-$60 per round (depending on experience) and the other $60 per round to fore-caddie for all four players.

Let's try this in Community Center. :)

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Maybe a busboy in a busy diner? Especially if the waitstaff shares tips. I was a waiter while in college, you leave work with cash everyday (and a paycheck once a week):)

McDonald's in my town will hire at 14 , that was my daughter's first job, the work wasn't bad , but they would constantly send some staff home during slow periods. My daughter sometimes would work two hours and get sent home....

My first job was detasseling corn, same as every other kid's first job where I lived. It only lasted a few weeks each summer, but dang-it did we learn to work.

Today, I'd steer a kid towards a restaurant or grocery. Learn to be prompt, polite, and clean. The fast-food places are especially designed and equipped to train first-time workers.

Yard work is fun, and you get to be outdoors.

Looking for a summer job? A summer camp job would be fun and rewarding. A huge bonus, you won't have to live at home!

Stay clear of jobs that require you to drive (you may not be old enough anyway) or require a car for commuting. You won't make enough to pay for the gas and insurance...

Good Luck!

That would be a dream job for me! :D

When I was 14 I was working with a mason. Then moved on to work with several different contractors ie-carpenters,framers,roofers,landscapers,etc.Something about working with my hands & seeing the finished product, brought a sense of pride & accomplishment to me.I learned several different trades in my teens & early 20's,that I could use the rest of my life.

I worked for a tree service and man was that some brutal work. It was a great experience to be outside and have a demanding job and I sure gained some muscle. I worked year-round in anything from 8-90 degree weather and its something I'll never forget. I think it taught me a lot and will allow me to work in future high-demand jobs since I could get through that.

I don't know how you feel about school,my kids all worked summers for the school that they attended,in the summer the school hires students to help the janitors clean, strip and refinish floors, whatever needs to be done.My kids loved it,the pay was good and it only lasted for the time that they are out.I grew up farming, that was a full time job from the time I could be of any help,if your in a rural area, check out the farms, farmers are always looking for help, usually pay cash and right now with what commodities are bringing should be hiring big time.

Im gonna turn 15 in July but I still have to wait a year until I can get a job. I don't know about the U.S but in Canada you can't hire someone under 16 or you get arrested for child labour:rolleyes:. I am trying to come up with grand plans to get rich quick but no luck so far. When I am 16 I plan to work part time at a furniture place assembling stuff for the people too lazy to do it themselves, I actually enjoy assembling furniture. Hopefully, Ill find some way to make money sooner.

My first job was working for a caterer , then a grocery store. Teen jobs were good at least for showing me how I didn't want to spend my future. If your in the Northeast some of the grocery stores like Stop and Shop actually aren't bad places to work, decent benefits, and will accomodate your schedule and usually hire a lot of good looking girls:D

I hope you get a job, whatever it is.

No one would hire my brother until he turned 16.

If you are lucky enough to be able to choose between a service type job (cleaning tables for example) and a job that may teach a skill (working for a mason, plumber, mechanic for example) pick the skill job. You would most likely learn a bit of self sufficiency, get to work outdoors most likely, and either learn that you like physical labour or help motivate you to study hard and learn a cushy indoor job.

Also look into school programs that may offer internship programs in useful enterprises, even if the pay is not great or even nonexistant. My step-son did a summer internship for the city of Las Vegas, and so impressed them that they hired him right out of high school. Now he works part time (in computers) for the City of Las Vegas and is studying at the University in an appropriate degree to further his career.

I am considering getting a job, so that i can get a new 2 hp motor for my kmg clone :D

Its good to get any sort of job just for the experience to get a job out of high school, so I think any job would be good for me.
