It was to hot to forge yesterday so I decided to work on a sheath for a knife I finished a while ago. I had been practicing a little on scraps with the tooling and it seemed OK. This is how it turned out.....What do you think for my first tooled custom sheath?

Nice sheath! Last night, after the storm rolled in, it got downright cold, at least on the PA line! Did you get any hammerin' in?

L@@LS good from here Larry  it's cooler here today the dang moisture was killing me, my cement floor was soaked it's airing out good today.. I have like 26 sheaths to make and it was just to hot to work in my leather room..:barf:

oh BTW Larry
that's a shape that is very hard to fit and keep tight,,, isn't it :)

it cant be that hot. try 140 average then add the heat index or a sand storm. my mom tried to find a place as hot as it is here even the car with the windows up in the south Texas heat wasnt there.

oh ya keep hidrated at least try to

Thanks guys.
No hammerin yesterday.....Maybe a little tonight. Got to play mechanic on my son's van first. Crank sensor and fuel filter. Probably take longer to go get them then put them on.
Brax...stay safe over there and keep practicing those ducks.

you want to know hot and have to work in it. .
I can remember while in the Navy 5 trips to Getmo Bay Cuba we had to work each day and night taking bearing and gauge readings in the engine rooms at 135 F with fresh air blowing in from the out side, with little help mined you..
when we worked down there repairing what have you that broke down we had to take belt buckles and dog tags off because they would burn us.. any tools we used could not be kept on the deck plates because you could not pick them back up..we had to hold them all the time while working,, our hand would keep them cooler to be able to hold them....

between the heat out side at 120+ and 105F at night the electrolysis from the salt water on the hull of the ship, the oil coolers diesel engines, hot water,,,, the engine rooms were damned hot
we had 23 readings to take while on watch and I got so I could take them all in 3 minits
with a dry tee-shirt going down from the ele department and back up the other end the shirt would be soaked watch day were 12 hours long the reast were 8+..that's about as close to heII as I wanted to get..

I wouldn't say COLD exactly...We had it in the upper 60's-low 70's here in Hanover.

Sheath looks good Nowicki! When's the next Monday meeting? I'd like to try and actually get there this time. Then I could see this on in person :)

Scott sorry to hear about your Mom.. I can only imagine, came close to losing mine two winters ago..:(

Thanks guys. Sorry to go off topic but she didn't have a will which made the process that much harder. One thing i've been telling everyone, if you have a loved one living alone and renting, GET AN EXTRA SET OF KEYS! We played hell with the apartment management trying to get into her apartment. Took 2 weeks to get in there! I had to get a court order to make them open the door!

I would have thought you could have used your 3 lb forging hammer as a key;)
Don't think that didn't cross my mind. I haven't been that pissed off at someone for a long time. The apartment mangement that is.
