To Lanyard or Not To Lanyard

So here's another set of question of preference for all you folks:

Do you put lanyards on your SAKs and/or your other multi-tools?
Why do you put them? Or why not?
What SAKs/multi-tools do you put them on?

I sometimes like having lanyards on my SAKs. Sometimes it's just because it's easier to carry them around with a lanyard that acts as a necklace. Sometimes it's because I like having a lanyard around my wrist in case for some weird reason, I drop the knife that I'm holding. Sometimes it's because it helps pull out my SwissChamp from the coin purse that I carry it in.

Other times though, specially when I'm at home or I need to put it in my pocket, I like taking out the keyring, along with the lanyard, from my Trekker and using it without worrying about a dangling lanyard getting in the way.

Thoughts? :D

Generally don't like a lanyard. Their flippy floppy motion as I'm trying to use a tool annoys me and gets in the way. I'm not around water much and if I'm on the dock cutting up bait, I just use the knife and am careful not to drop it. If I lose it, oh well, it's not like I have a shortage of knives.

I like them and use them mainly for decoration and ease of pulling from my pocket. All my SAKs that have keyrings have a lanyard.

Besides that, I just like making them. I find it relaxing.

I always lanyard.

I'll put a short 6 inch lanyard with a quick release hook on my SAK's so as to make them easier to retrieve from a pocket, and keep it handy. I'' put the knot of the lanyard tucked under my belt, with the SAK hanging down in my pocket suspended an inch or two from the bottom of the pocket. This both keeps it in the same place, and by grabbing the lanyard I can just pull it out with no going into the pocket. This is nice if I'm working on something and my hands are greasy or dirty. The hook makes it only a seconds work to remove the lanyard.

Also, from April to about October, I do spend time on small boats. Sail boats, canoes, john boats. I don't want my knife to end up in Davy Jones's locker. Let him go buy his own knife!

I have a lanyard used as a pull fob on a vic bantam, mostly for ease of reach, doesn't interfere with function.

I have a fob on my Juice S2. It is a coil knot with a monkey's fist on the end. I like the look of it but it is really not needed.

I just put a lanyard on my Deluxe Tinker. The keyring was calling and I had a spare decorative box knot lanyard.

So far, I don't like it.

I keep my knife in my right front pocket, along with my keys and wallet. So for me, the lanyard hinders instead of helps me pull it out of my pocket. The lanyard snags onto the other objects.

Moreover, I think a lanyard works best on fixed-blades, works ok on folding knives, and just gets in the way of SAKs. The problem is, SAKs open in both directions. When I have the main blade opened, the lanyard is on the other side of the handle (where it should be). But, when I want to use the pen knife (which opens opposite the main blade) the lanyard is sitting right next to it.

On some I have, on others not. I don´t know why it´s like this. On 80 % I don´t have, but on most of my users I have lanyards on SAKs.

Kind regards
