Ok i need some help, i've heard great things about Spyderco so i've decided that i'm going to get one for my EDC when i can't carry my Dalton, but, which one to get? Damn companys and there making to may good knives..so any help? I need it to be sharp (that narrows it down  ) and be able to beat the hell out of it, from opeaning boxes, cuttin zip ties, rope, anything that can be cut, might need to be cut...sorry for the long post...any suggestions?..oh and not too expensive the ATR is out of my price range, just to give you an idea

Get the Military w/S30V steel. Big, Sharp, tough, easy to sharpen, solid lock up..damn good work/utiliy knife. Price is around 90.00 or so. I found one on Ebay brand new for around 70.00 shipped. An excellent review can be found here military review

Military, pair of enduras, delicas or natives, ss dragonfly(been abusing mine since august 01, still rock solid), ss cricket, pro-venator, chinook, lil temp, salsa, dodo....

shall I go on? there's over 80 (main) skus, and only a couple are specialized usage ones(c12, c08, c77, c21) or smaller than you'd want(lbk, jbk, c75).

edit: c01-c82, c87 and c88, fb01-fb10, k01-k09, mn07, sc01, t01, tc07s, cx11p, b01, b02... and the variations on, such as edges and years.

I like the Military, but its huge, any recomendations for something thats just as tough and not so large, i like the Delica, but i like the S30V for strength and edge holding?

I've narrowed it down to two choices for you:

Get an Endura (4 inch blade), or if you want a 3 inch blade, then it's a Delica.

...Couldn't be simpler.:).

that all depends if you mean large as in length or as in width.

the lil temp leaf blade would be the best step down, dead on 3" blade. The 02 version has 440V(s60V), 03 is s30v. Even the calypso jr lt(frn/vg-10) is better if you can find one, just not as tough(millie is 150lbs/inch, lil temp is MBC(250lbs/inch, calypso is 80-100lbs/inch).

If you just want a slimmer package, the c07 police or c10 endura are best.

The Native Lightweight in S30V steel is the obvious choice here. Low pricepoint, exotic blade steel, excellent ergos, strong lock, ambidexrous, light weight, etc. Great knife for the bux.

Well, I have to say I enjoy using a wide variety of spyderco knives for EDC. But I think a spyderco knife that would be ideal for you would be a Spyderco Dodo (SE). Several reasons for this suggestion would be personal, however, very obvious for what type of use you described for the knife and cost range. A Spyderco Dodo would most likely be legal to carry to work for its intended purpose. The blade is sturdy, the locking mechanism is great for quick release to flip open, the handle made of G10 is tough and lightweight and the shape of the knife when open gives it a real good feel for grip in your hand that almost makes you forget you are carrying a very sharp cutting device. I have the same knife as stated above and have used it in my unloading/stocking job and it works great. The cost is moderate but nothing like the ATR, however, it is a lil more expensive then a delica, salsa, or endura. If you need to see a pic of it go to www.spyderco.com and do a search for dodo and click on the link. Hope this helps you in your decision for a new knife! Good Luck!
