Are you guys ever in this predicament! I can't decide wether or not to get a Spyderco (I NEED my first one) or a DMT aligner Deluxe, because I just wanna try out DMT stones! The thing is the only stone I really need is the EEF and EF since i have the lansky set in diamond (goes up to the fine gold stone) from what I've read they have the same grit sizes up to EF and EEF, but the cost of a EEF stone and EF stone would add up to the aligner cost! Does knifecenter still have the deal where they give you a free EEF stone when you buy an aligner?

So I cant decide a Spydie or a DMT aligner. My budget is around $50 so unless someone wants to sell me a Spydie tenacious for $20 I'm out of luck.

I get really nice edges with my lansky and strop combo. (I'ma post pics on my strop in a little ;) ) I just really want to try out DMT stones.
What would you pick!

Edit: Byrd knives aren't in the idea, because I want an FFG spydie :P I heard they have awesome FFG :)
 
I would go with the Spydie over the DMT only because I enjoy trying out new knives more than I do sharpening. If you're happy with your edges now, that's what I would suggest. The only downside to getting the Spyderco first is that once you get one you're going to want more so the DMT may get pushed further down the list.:D
