I sit here with an overstuffed belly, too much good sirlion burgers, roast chiclken, and dill potato salid, washed down with well cooled Porter.

And I hope you guys had as good a Memorial Day Sunday as I had.

Sounds like you had a very nice M-Day. God Bless you my friend.!

Went on a picnic at a lake. Got the canoe out and caught some rainbows, including watching my five-year old son reel in a football-shaped one on a spinner. Then came home and made paella with brown rice, swordfish, chicken I smoked (they're tough to get lit ;) ) tiger shrimp, clams, sausage, some assorted vegies and herbs and saffron.

I also fell out of the canoe right at the bank. Everything else in the canoe stayed in so I'm not really sure how that happened. The kids in the canoe next to us thought it was pretty funny, and that mountain water was frigid!

Man, am I glad I don't have to work tomorrow.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone,

Mike

Greetings gentlemen. Been watching it rain mostly here for a couple of days, but still have a full belly none the less. :)

Happy Memorial Day to you all, and a very sincere thank you to our Veterans and current Armed Forces.

Wife gave me a pass to get out and chase Muskies all day..Saw 2!!! No hits..I guess in the Musky Nut world that's a success. Still had a great time with a good friend...and a big Thank You to all my fellow Vets and those still active.

Randy Here is a pic of what they look like..At least I can look at old pics..helps to ease the feeling of defeat from today.

As we all sit here happy with fat bellies, let us remember the soldiers that are coming home in a box with an American flag on top of them. Let us remember that sometimes soldiers must bleed on the flag to keep the stripes red.

Let us remember, all the sacrifices that have been made by soldiers who are also fathers, brothers, husbands, sisters, mothers, sons, daughters, etc. Some have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Some marinated Mediterranean style med-rare skirt steaks, some tarragon roast potatoes, and sliced heirloom tomatoes with fresh mozzarella, chiffonade of basil, bariani olive oil, bariani balsamic vinegar, and sea salt. That, and some Rouge Hazelnut brown. Having a Guinness right now. :D

Went and put out the flags about a minute ago. Happy Memorial Day and thank you to all of those that give tomorrow meaning.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer or better guy and I'll bet anything it was worth its weight in gold not only to your son but the other youngsters who saw you take a flop and take it in stride!!!

Ford,

This is supposed to be the second rainiest area of the country but it's been drier than a skeleton's bony ass. You feel the need to get in out of the rain and I'll email you directions!.

Randy, that's just a dang Pickerel!
Seriously, though, that's a heck of a nice catch!

Well said. Enjoy the long weekend all, but let's remember at all times the sacrifices of that have been made.

RandyW your fish makes my fish look like guppies. I would love to catch one of those.

Sierra11b “chiffonade of basil” means you're either a chef or watch the Food Network but just reading that description made my stomach growl.

Blues/Elliott I came up spitting like a tomcat and my testicles were hiding somewhere between my lungs and heart. About then the park ranger came by and said “cold isn’t it?” I would have thrown something at him but I was too busy trying to breath. I did stay in the water and held the other people’s canoe while they loaded and then pushed them out.

Thanks to all the veterans and those who have served to make our country great.

I'm going to work on a few knife related projects this afternoon, take the wife and my parents to visit a cemetary later and then out to dinner.

Wishing my fellow forum friends all the best on this Memorial Day.

Happy belated Memorial day!

I stopped by the Old Post House in Nottingham, PA (stop in anytime you're up that way, best breakfasts anywhere IMHO), rode up to Lancaster, stopped at Country Knives and almost bought a Queen Dogleg Jack, but picked up a Becker BK7 instead. Drove down 222 to Havre de Grace, hoping to get a peek at the skipjack, but missed it. Duck decoy museum was closed too. Stopped in Susquehanna state park to go for a walk, and spent the evening with the family. Hamburgers on the grill, barbecued chicken breast, potato salad, grilled vegetables, corn on the cob (not MD sweet corn though), and a rootbeer float to top it all off. I'm still tired...

Traditional knife wise, a Woodland Special with amber bone handles came in from a recent trade. I'm not big on stag, but this is one fine knife.
