To Razel or Not To Razel

So, who here uses a razel style knife and why?

I think it's one of those things where I have never really tried to use one so I don't really get it.

What are it's main selling points and advantages? Sure I could read the sales material but I would rather get a more down to earth opinion.

Thanks for the info.

I'd like to hear this too. I'v often considered getting one, but I'm not quite convinced about the usefullness of one. But then again, it really doesn't have to be useful, if you like it, you like it, if you don't, you don't.

I've found it to be a good knife for working on "honey do" jobs around the house.

I doubt I'll ever take it to the bush.

Sorry I can't help but thanks for posting it. It's always nice to learn a new blade.

Consider what you use a knife for most of the time? These blades aren't designed for hunting chores or even woods carry in general. They are designed for everday use.

They are fine knives and very useful for day in day out stuff. They make a nice pocket sheath for the stubby model. I have been looking at them for the last couple of years and keep passing. Why? The Customs are expensive. One of these days, Josh and John will get an order from me. It is a knife you just have to pick up and handle. They are really nice blades.

If you have been wanting a razel don't miss out on the new production versions between the Graham Bros. and CRKT. They comes in the Stubby, regular ringed razel, and large razel. I own the new CRKT ringed razel and it is really awesome. One of the Graham Bros. said that CRKT "almost did too good on the factory model".

If you have been wanting a razel and just couldn't afford a custom you need to get a few of these CRKT versions. Super blades!!!!

Handles are really small if you have average to large size hands. Otherwise, a unique design and nice sheaths.

I always thought the razel looked great. I don't carry fixed blades though.

One of the several reasons I carry a Swiss Spirit multitool rather than the Wave I used to carry, is because it includes what is essentially a little razel blade. That chisel blade is really useful.

I've got a Graham ringed Stars-n-Stripes Razel and love it. I had the Graham Bros make me a pocket leather sheath for it instead of the TekLock kydex it came with.

This knife is my go-to knife and tool around the house and the garage. Just the other day I was using it to scrape some old stickers off my aluminum boat, I've used it to chisel out portions of a door jam to get hinges to fit and also cut many of boxes (which it does effortlessly).

I was a bit skeptical about the ring at first, but I wouldn't have it any other way now. It allows me to wear gloves and still have the knife securely in the grip of my hand.

I love it. Here's some pics - I don't have any action pics, just pics of it taking a break:) I plan on getting the CRKT stubby very soon.

I have a Ringed Razel from CRKT and love it.I carry it to work every day.I also carried mine on a 4 day hiking trip and found it indispensable on the trail for small tasks.Even some light chopping when I needed a quick walking stick.Sharpens up really easy and holds an edge well.
I had been drooling over the custom Razels for a long time so when these came up I jumped at the chance to own one for a fraction of the cost.

I met Jon & Josh Graham at their 1st BLADE show & loved their knives. At first I was not to into the Razel design & got a small Spearpoint. This year I picked up a CRKT SS3 Ringed Razel to use as a yardwork beater knife. So far it is working great & surprisingly I've not cut myself (yet) fooling around with the ring. When I got the Razel from Jon & Josh they said CRKT did a great job on them - almost too good. After using mine I would have to agree, and the Razel shape has proven to make a fine work knife. I say get a CRKT Razel to see how you like it. If you decide you want a custom one, I suggest you move fast. They just opened up orders last week & it usually does not last long when they do.

the first time i saw one on this forum i didn't care for it at all. now i find myself on the lookout for the crkt version to give it a try.

I think I'd like to have one when the folder version comes out. It looks like an extremely useful little everyday knife. :)
