To sharpen or not to sharpen

So my brother got me an SP10.Marine Raider Bowie and I LOVE it. I've procrastinated getting one for years and now that I have one in hand I feel stupid for waiting so long to finally have one (which was a gift no less). Any way the sedge isn't sharpened (is flat) but is thin enough to still chew up batons. Since it already eats batons should I go ahead and fully sharpen the swedge or leave as? Are their any advantages to a very thin but still flat/unsharpened sedge?

Personally I would leave it as is.

I have a SP10 and never saw the need for the swedge to be sharpened, on my 498 that's a different story though :D

One thing to consider if you do go ahead and sharpen it, a lot of places will classify that as a double edged knife making it illegal, you might want to check the laws in your area regarding this before you proceed.

Yeah I think I'll leave it un-sharpened after giving it some thought. Gives the tip a lil extra strength plus I can remove the coating for a fire steel.

Thanks guys
