To strip or not to strip that is the question?

I just got a mint cont. Mudrazor in and was wondering if you guys would strip it? I think it would look great with a nice polish on it and will be super sharp. I saw a post some time ago on here that showed a NMSFNO that was stripped and the process of "how to" strip Busse knives. Its seems simple enough, I just don't want to damage the blade. Last question (kinda off topic) why is there no Busse logo for the Mudrazor?

PS does anyone have a link on the post with the NMSFNO that was stripped?

It's gonna be rough between the corregations...

It's difficult to see in the pic, but its pretty wild in there with no easy way to get them smooth.

She's a bit ugly... but I just love her personality...

No question about it. STRIP HER!!!

Ditto. That photo above would be enough for me. Stripping is super easy. I bought a spray on stripper that foams up. I forget the name, but it would make even the grooves easy. You would just want a tool small enough to scrape through the grooves, but the stripper (:D) should do all the work.

There are no CBTs on the mud razor.

Did you also work on the butt on that one? It looks more square than normal, no?

If its a user I see no reason not to strip it. INFI is corrosion resistant enough to not benefit much from the coatings. My SR101 swamp warden has more call for keeping it but cutting up some cardboard has already made it look much the user.

Yeah no CBTs on the mudrazor, should make it even easier to strip and polish. Looks like stripping it will be the way to go. Will I need to do any sanding?

Well that depends on how shiny you want it. Its going to be a dull gray if you don't sand it at all. Raw INFI is dimpled and gray.

Probably. Stripped nekkid INFI can be pretty fugly. Depends on how pretty you need it to be.

He could end up with some decarb too, right? That'd be the biggest reason to do some sanding, apart from aesthetics.

The butt looks worked. That should be a lesson for everyone. WORK THE BUTT when stripping!!! Looking good that way!

Indeed!

I took a bit off the butt... that awkward little 'flange' kept poking my ribs. :grumpy: I think it looks better without.

It's an uber-user now, and sharp as a razor. Walking through the woods a while back I walked right up on a snake hanging from a tree. The HR already in hand, I instinctively took one quick swipe, instantly separating his head from his body. :D

uh oh...wait for it...here he comes...

When in doubt, strip her.

Before stripping, green cc finish with tan hides.

After some attention from Garth at the Busse shop, polished blade and mag orange/black G-10 slabs.

The decarb is limited to the competition grade models released a while ago.

Normal coated infi, does not have decarb underneath. (I think I Saw one CG FBM that a rust issue under the coating, and the shop said it must have had a bit).

I promise you won't find decarb under coated infi.

Will definitely need sanding if you want a polish. I think that stripped infi looks great and "user" style without sanding. Especially on knives with CBT I think it looks awesome.

I just stripped the black coating off my BOSS street. I have to say it looks pretty kickass. I just used some ez strip I got from wall mart, the 15 min kind, I used and a plastic brush. It did nothing to the micarta. WEAR GOGGLES AND CHEM GLOVES!!! That shit will burn you somethng fierce. Get some mineral spirits for cleaning the blade after. I am totally happy with the results. My Swamprat waki is no longer safe ... Muhuwahaahaaa!!!
