Dear Knife Manufacturers,

Please use BG-42 as the blade material for your new knives...

This is to you Spyderco, Benchmade, Boker, Zero Tolerance, Cold Steel, Buck and Kershaw. I enjoy all of your knives but would gladly pay the premium to have them in my favorite steel.

...and remember bigger is better, regardless.

That's all, Have a Merry Christmas. :D

You are reminding me I really need to try BG-42, it's one of the few premium steels I haven't tried. I doubt it will cure my addiction to CPM M4, but you never know. Everyone I've seen raves about BG-42, so there definately must be something there.

I'll take BG-42 over any CPM (well, not CPM154 or CPM-D2). It has all the qualities that I like in a good blade steel, yet can be sharpened with conventional stones. Great stuff.

this is a great alloy, i.m.o. slightly better than vg10 but slightly less than s30v. the differences are slight, maybe 5 to 7% between these steels. i would'nt hesitate to buy bg42 over s30v if a certain model appealed to me. have knives out of 3v,s30v,cpm m4, yet my favorite is the old timer 1095. i like that stuff although the newer alloys can outcut it by 15 or 20%. m4 is an exception since it is in a class by itself. i carry my mule m4 to the boonies but the old workhorse 1095 sees the most use. steel junkies think that lower performing alloys are to be chunked & i ca'nt fault them for their quests for perfection.i'm more easiley satisifed than many of my formite buddies
