Can i get some feedback on this kukri? I can't find the steel listed anywhere. Is this a quality item? The price seems surprisingly low

It isn't as cheap as you thnk once you figure in the shipping costs. HI's price is including shipping.

HI has several models that have tangs like that, but I don't think they have any with the guard.
My advice is to look through this forum and get a feel for HI through its die-hard customers.
Thats what I did, and now I'm waiting on my 18" Ganga Ram Special.
It doesn't take long to see the difference between HI and the various khukuri houses.
I'm still new to the scene, having never held a full size khukuri,
but from my research HI is the best choice for a quality khukuri.

This Khukuri is not made by HI, I will ship the Ganga Ram special within this month.
Thank you for your patience

Yangdu,
No worries, you said it will be in the next shipment from Nepal, and it isn't like anyone can speed that up no matter excited I am to put it to use.
If I hadn't been particular about having a Ganga Ram, I'm sure I would already be using an HI khukuri. But, the Ganga Ram called to me.
I've no doubt that it will be worth the wait.
Now if I could just keep those other Khukuri from calling to me too...
I've developed a rather large crush on the ASTK, Chitlangi, BAS, and of course the infamous chopping pry bar the CAK.

BePrepared, why do you think it's ok to post pics of another blade other than HI here? This is not ok. You have been posting on the forums long enough to know this. Are you not happy with the Kukri you "pulled the trigger on" last month?

The Store is the only place where shipping is included and that is only for CONUS.
International and DOTD sales are Price + shipping.

And in the circumstances when HI does charge for shipping, the shipping cost is from Reno, Nevada, USA instead of being all the way from Nepal.

HI also has a great warranty and awesome customer service.

Ms. Yangdu,

would it be possible to order a kukri with such a half-guard (or integral half-guard)?

Thanx.

Franco

I have this one that looks like the one in your picture. Mine is an EGKH Custom Kukri. EGKH means Ex-Gurkha Khukuri House.
Made of Carbon Steel 5160 and has a cotton water proof cloth for Scabbard, and Indian Rosewood for the Handle.

You get what you pay for. My Kukri from EGKH is 28 oz and the steel is OK at about 57 Rockwell. But the Himalayan Imports Kukris have better heat treated blades and HI's fit/finish is very high. At about the same price when you included shipping fees the Angkhola Supreme really isn't so supreme. Just my experience :).

The REAL ANGH KHOLA SUPREME IS THE 18 IN AK BY HIMIMP---NOBODY ELSE...you may disagree, size weight whatever---but performance---if the world ends id want 2 kinds of Aks--one fires 762...nuff said

Many years ago I did a lot of research on native Khuks. Took months.

Then I chatted with some of the real old hands here on this sub-forum. Bought an HI khuk (or two).

I am a very satisfied customer.

[And given how I travel, I could always just pick one up in Nepal if I wished.]

Wow, I knew the main HI Forum was for only HI products, but I thought the Cantina was a bit more relaxed.

He come over here to ask about the qaulity of the blade and if HI had a product similar to the posted one to GET an HI product.

No wonder Kukri's are a niche in the population when folks get such warm responses from the folks who use them...........

I think that was posted before i moved this into the Cantina. Not saying it's wrong or right.
Whats done is done, please lets not, start an argument over it now.

I apologize, I hadn't realized this was posted in the Main Forum. Certainly don't wish to argue, I just like to see as Knife Community, direct guide and educate people rather than chastise them.

Again, my apologies

No need to apologise, Grav.
I can see you had good intention, just as lee did.
i'm just as sure BP meant no harm.
Sometimes we need to work hard at expressing ourselves properly. I often do.
